Framed Edward Curtis Photogravure published as part of The North American Indian, a series of twenty volumes published between 1907-1930. Each volume featured narrative text and photogravure images, and was accompanied by a portfolio of large photogravure plates.

A photogravure is a photographic image produced from an engraving plate.  The process dates to the 1820s. A copper plate is coated with a light-sensitive material that is then exposed to a film positive and etched to produce a high quality photographic image.
